Day 1

Meet at the Whitehouse Trailhead near Page, AZ

We will be camping at the White House Campground at the Whitehouse Trailhead. The day will include going over food and gear with a guide and we’ll have dinner with the crew.

Day 2

Section: Whitehouse Trailhead to the Basecamp which will be at the Confluence

*The confluence is where the Paria river meets the Buckskin Gulch

Hiking Distance: 7 miles

Highlights: Pack up and hit the Paria river heading south into the sun which makes for amazing pictures of the beautiful Paria Narrows. The red sandstone walls are breathtaking! We will spend most of the day in the narrows and set up basecamp near the confluence.

Day 3

Section: Day hike to Abandoned Meander

Hiking Distance: 10 miles

Highlights: This is a slackpacking day so we will only bring what we need for the day. We will hike to the abandoned meander which is a special side trip to an ancient dried river bed. Let’s see if we can find any fossils! During our hike we will be showing the hikers how to find a spring water sources, meaning a spring coming from the rock. It’s a great skill and the water is soooo good.

Day 4

Section: Basecamp up Buckskin Gulch

Hiking Distance: 10 miles

Highlights: Let’s play in Buckskin Gulch all day!!!

Buckskin Gulch is a very narrow gorge 100 to 200 feet deep, flanked by vaulting convoluted walls of Navajo Sandstone. The canyon gets just a few feet wide in many places. We will have a ton of photo opportunities and time to absorb all of the beauty.

Day 5

Section: Basecamp to Whitehouse Trailhead

Highlights: We pack up and head back up the Paria Canyon narrows seeing it in a whole different light. We hit the latrines and celebrate our accomplishment.
